As of 2007, there were 192,764,673 acres of land being managed by the US Forest Service as either National Forest, National Grassland or National Preserve. There is Forest Service property in every state except Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island. There is one National Forest in Puerto Rico. More than 80% of the land overseen by the Forest Service is located in the Western States.
