Hotchkiss, Colorado

Hotchkiss is a nice little town along the West Elk Loop Scenic Byway in western Colorado. Southeast of Hotchkiss is the town of Crawford, the gateway to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and home of Crawford State Park. Just southwest of the two towns is that large chunk of BLM property known as the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. The Hotchkiss National Fish Hatchery is also a bit southwest of town.

Hotchkiss is also in the heart of Colorado's Wine Country. Hotchkiss was named for its founder: Enos Hotchkiss, a former road-builder who arrived in the area and homesteaded a property in the late 1870s.
