Routt County, Colorado

Routt County is in northwestern Colorado with Wyoming to the north. While most folks live within a few miles of the Yampa River that just about bisects the county, a lot of this countryside is either big cattle (or sheep) ranch or parts of Routt National Forest.

Named in honor of the last territorial and first state governor John Long Routt, Routt County contains 2,362 square miles of land and 17 square miles water. The county seat is Steamboat Springs.
