Avon, Colorado

Avon is located about 2 miles north of Beaver Creek Resort. The settlement was originally built around a railroad siding established in 1889. Avon was once home to the corporate offices of Vail Resorts but that company moved its headquarters to Broomfield in 2006. Avon is also home to Liberty Skis, an independent ski manufacturer. Avon is also a bit famous for the presence of a four-lane bridge over the Eagle River that was named "Bob" as the result of a local contest to find a name for it.
