Blackwater River State Park

Pine flatwoods at Blackwater River State Park

Blackwater River State Park is a very popular location for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and camping with more than 600 acres of recreational space centered around Blackwater River, one of the purest sand-bottom rivers in the United States. The Blackwater River is a designated Florida canoe trail with the last two miles of the trail inside the park. Local vendors rent canoes and kayaks and offer guided trips on the river but the park does not.

The park offers a picnic pavilion overlooking the river and a couple hiking trails, including a long boardwalk interpretive nature trail. The campground has 30 campsites, three of which are universally accessible. Each campsite has 20/30/50 amp electrical service, a drinking water tap, sewer tap, fire ring, barbecue grill and picnic table. The sites will accommodate everything from a simple tent up to a 45' RV. Pets are welcome but must be controlled and on a leash. A restroom with showers is located in the center of the two campsite loops with a dump station located on the main entrance road.

There is an Atlantic white cedar tree on the property that has been recognized as one of the largest and oldest Atlantic white cedars on Earth.

Blackwater River State Park is open from 8 am to sunset every day of the year. There are fees involved.

Blackwater River State Park is located off US Highway 90, about 15 miles northeast of Milton. Blackwater River State Park is almost completely surrounded by Blackwater River State Forest.
