Fowler, Colorado

Fowler began its existence named Oxford, after an incident involving an ox killed by a train while crossing the tracks. The settlement sprang up around a siding built on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. The founder was a phrenologist named Orson Squire Fowler and the name was changed to honor him when it was discovered there was another town named Oxford on the same rail line.
