Florida Mountains Wilderness Study Area

The Florida Mountains Wilderness Study Area is an 8,904-acre property abuting Rockhound State Park in central New Mexico. The Florida Mountains are an isolated, north-south trending range with steep rocky canyons and vertical cliffs. The plant species in the area consist of grasses, mixed desert shrubs and junipers. On all sides of the mountain range alluvial fans drop to the valley floors.
