White Sandy Recreation Area

The White Sandy Recreation Site is located on Hauser Lake, about 15 miles northeast of Helena. White Sandy is directly south of the Black Sandy Campground managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. With a total of 32 sites, White Sandy Recreation Area offers group camping sites and individual camping sites with fire grills and picnic tables. The roads are paved and there's a concrete boat ramp with a courtesy dock on the lake. White Sandy Recreation Area also offers a large day-use parking lot, swimming area, picnic shelters, drinking water, restrooms, garbage collection, accessible trails and parking spots, and a state-of-the-art fish cleaning station.

To get there: get off the I-15 about 7 miles north of Helena at the Lincoln Road exit. From there go east until you reach a "T" intersection. Turn left onto the gravel Hauser Dam Road and go north to the signed turnoff for the White Sandy Recreation Area.
