National Wildlife Refuges in Wisconsin
Boardwalk on Horicon Marsh
National Wildlife Refuges
The Gravel Island and Green Bay National Wildlife Refuges are on islands in Lake Michigan. These are basically small bird nesting islands devoid of vegetation and closed to the public.
Horicon NWR covers about two-thirds of the 33,000-plus acres of the Horicon Marsh, the other one-third of the marsh being in the hands of the Wisconsin Division of Natural Resources.
