Scenic Byways in West Virginia

In front of a country store along the Highland Scenic Highway
A lot of the roads in West Virginia stem from historic uses or from coal and timber operations. And with the state being located at the top of the Appalachian Mountains, there's no straight stretch of road anywhere. With all the forests, the rivers, the gorges, the mountains... every bend in the road can bring new delights, new heritage to explore, new adventures. And I don't know what it is but every time I cross the state, I find myself crossing the New River Gorge Bridge... one of these days it'll be on the official BASE jumping day.
