The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail is a 3,100-mile route that follows (or parallels) the imaginary line of the Continental Divide between Mexico and Canada. The trail was authorized under the 1978 National Trails Systems Act but at this point in time (2020), major sections of it are still unfinished.
