Flatside Wilderness

Flatside Wilderness is a 9,507-acre property within the bounds of Ouachita National Forest. Most of the property is rugged terrain with several small creeks and some great panoramic views from the tops of the ridges.

To get there: Go south from Perryville, Arkansas on Arkansas Highway 9 for 13.6 miles, then turn right and go west on Forest Service Road 132. Go 8.3 miles, then turn north on Forest Service Road 94 and go 3 miles to the parking area at Flatside Pinnacle. Flatside Pinnacle is a rock outcropping topping out at 1,550 feet just outside the boundary of the wilderness area. The trailhead for the Ouachita National Recreation Trail is near Flatside Pinnacle and the trail heads west, offering 10 miles of rugged hiking across Flatside Wilderness to the summit of White Oak Mountain (1,650') at the wilderness area's western edge.
