Utah County is in the heart of Utah with the eastern county line along the top ridgeline of the Wasatch Front. Mt. Timpanogos Wilderness, Timpanogos Cave National Monument and Sundance Resort are here.
Utah County is often referred to as "the most Republican County in the most Republican state." Utah County contains 1,998 square miles of land and 143 square miles of water. The county seat is Provo.
In the late spring of 2013 I passed through Provo twice: once going north and once coming back south. On the way south I thought I'd try to drive the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway. I fought my way through ridiculous traffic only to reach the mouth of the canyon and find the road barricaded... Utah still hadn't plowed the snow off the road. So I fought my way through several more miles of suburban traffic and turned up the Provo Canyon Scenic Byway.
