Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings is most famous for winning the Pulitzer Prize after writing The Yearling in the 1930's. She lived and wrote at this Cracker-style home and farm for twenty-five years. The property has been restored to what it was like when she lived here.

In addition to the home and the restored outbuildings, the property offers ornamental gardens and two short nature trails. Adjacent to the state park is the county park where you'll find a playground and picnic facilities.

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park is open daily from October through July, from 9 am to 5 pm, except on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Access inside the home is by guided tour only, Thursday through Sunday, at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm.

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park is located off County Road 325 in Cross Creek (between Gainesville and Ocala on the eastern side of Orange Lake).
